There is a green bar in the top right corner of the itch software. It sometimes turns red, this can't be good. How do I keep it in the green?

I means that your CPU usage is sometimes above "safe" manners. You may concerning glitches or dropouts during this peak time. Increase latency time, and scan you songs before you gonna play it live with NSx unplugged.

The CPU meter on my 5 year old MacBook will briefly go into the red whenever I load a new track but then goes back down to like 30% right away... I feel this is normal behavior because I've never had a problem with overheating. In fact a YouTube video will cause my Mac's cooling fan to kick in but never while running ITCH. If your CPU meter only goes into the red briefly like mine does then don't worry about it, but if it's redlining all the time then you've got problems.

I had an OLD friend from the Bronx named DJ Scott La Rock. He got shot to death many years ago. Used to DJ for KRS One.
Never thought I would see a DJ take on his name.

I just noticed his name at the top of the page. Is that your actual DJ name, or are you paying tribute?

The bar you are seeing is the CPU bar, you want it to stay relatively low and not go into the red. Making sure all other programs are closed and your computer is not too full helps. You might also like to follow these : serato.com

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the heads up and tips. I will try them out! The only question I had was regarding the "Good" and/or "Bad" USB Port. Shouldn't they both be good? Why would one go bad or be bad? Is there a way to check them?
To answer the Dj Scott La Rock question:
My first name is Scott and back in the late 80's / early 90's my crew decided that my style reminded them of the late and great Dj Scott La Rock. They all started calling me that and it caught on locally in California/SF Bay Area. For the most party kids and others today don't even know who he is/was. Major props to all of you for knowing and respecting him and his mad skills. It was an honor to be named after such a great Dj. I don't take it for granite and always give props to him at my shows. RIP and much love to BDP.

It happened again during last's gig. I did all of the tweaks you suggested and it worked fine for one gig. Then last night I without warning the green bar spiked to red and shut me down. HELP!

That's kinda weird. Usually MBP's don't have that issue. Besides what Logan offered I don't know what else it could be.
Do you have any corrupt files?
Are you loading un analized tracks?
Any problems with external or internal HD?

make sure your levels on the ns7 are not peaking right to the top... the "red lights above your fader" i notice that my cpu usage would bring me to the red aswell if the levels were too high (pitch).. the only fix i found was to turn down my levels.. and just amplify the sound on the speakers if its powered or any other mixer i was playing through instead of the actual mixer on the ns7... 0_o its kinda wiered to explain & difficult to understand why it would do that.

I believe only some of the Macbook Pros a from a few years back had a 'better' usb port. Not entirely sure why but I think the USB architecture was just slightly better, so it might be worth trying both.
Did you follow all of those tweaks in the guide I posted?
Are you using an external hard drive? If you disconnect it does the CPU still spike?
Can you please take a screenshot of your 'Activity Monitor' with it sorted by the 'CPU' column and attach it to this thread. I would like to see if it is in fact ITCH that is utilizing your computer's CPU and what else is running.
Cheers.

So after looking into this issue further I think it has something to do with my sound levels. Can you please describe why the sound/output levels would make the computer shutdown?

The sound levels? Do you mean that the louder you have your gains the higher the CPU is??
Can you reproduce this? I can't see how or why this would have a direct effect on CPU.
Can you open 'Activity Monitor' and sort by the %CPU column, and when this happens can you see if it is ITCH that is actually spiking in CPU and not another application.

I guess my master volume needs to be turned up high and my individuals need to be lower. More headroom?
Logan D

You could increase the headroom in the Setup screen a bit. But yes you want to make sure the individual track gains aren't too high.
